There Is Power In Your Words

We are told in the Holy Scriptures that God created the Heaven and the earth through the power of His word. We are also told that we were created in His likeness and image. If this is so, then surely there must be some creative power in the words that we speak. Whatever we speak comes to pass whether be it negative or positive. That’s why the Bible says; “Life and death are in the power of your tongue. (Prov. 18:21).” Your tongue has got power to kill and also to give life. We are told again in the Bible that if we love to use it we will eat of its fruits.

Our tongue can shape our future to what we want it to be. That is why in this era that we are living in, we don’t have to wait for a prophet to speak upon our lives but we are our own prophets.  We prophesy and speak over our own lives. Speak only positive things about yourself and other people. Speak life to every situation that looks dead and hopeless. We have been made kings and priests through Jesus Christ. Ecclesiastes 8:4 says; “Where there is a word of a king there is power.”

Elijah understanding the kingship in him commanded the clouds to withhold rain for three and a half years so that there was neither rain nor dew in that land for that length of time (2 Sam. 1:21). The power in the word of the kings that we are is able even to super impose itself on nature. It is able to control the nature so that it obeys our voice.

Joshua too, knowing the power in his words when he saw that the battle was not coming to an end yet the sun was going down, he commanded it to stand still. The sun obeyed and stood still until the battle he was fighting was over and he had prevailed, then it went down (Josh. 10:12).

Jesus exercising the authority of His kingship commanded the fig tree to wither because He didn’t find figs in it yet He was hungry. Indeed the tree withered under the power of Jesus’ words, (Mat. 21:18).

Now the Bible in James 5 says, “Elijah was a human being with a nature such as we have [with feelings, affections, and a constitution like ours]; and he prayed earnestly for it not to rain, and no rain fell on the earth for three years and six months.” [I Kings 17:1.]. I want to emphasize on the fact that he was a human being just like you and me, but he spoke a word and nature had to obey. You and I can speak a word to whatever situation before us and it has to obey. Speak to it in faith and do not doubt in your heart and it shall be done. Your words have the power and authority of a king because after God had created man, He gave him power to rule over the earth and everything in it.

SAY THIS:

I have authority as a believer. What I speak becomes law in the spiritual realm because I am king. I frame my world through my words. Therefore, I will not utter any negative word with my mouth. I speak to give life and not to kill.
